The modem port configuration is the simplest of all three.
Follow the steps below to complete the setup.
1. Deactivate software that may be using the serial port (Refer to Chapter 5).
2. Connect the PortDoubler to the Mac's modem port.
3. Open the folder on your PortDoubler disk titled "Modem Port Install".
4. Drag the extension titled "Modem PortDoubler" onto your "System" folder.
* You should receive a confirmation from your mac, that the extension will be placed automatically in your extensions folder.
5. Connect your fax modem to port#1.
6. Connect your additional device to port#2.
7. Restart your computer.
8. If you have Fax software, you will need to setup the fax software to use a new serial port. The "Fax" port is a virtual port created by the PortDoubler software. Each fax program has a different location to change this setting. Examples of where to locate this setting have been included in the Chapter "Configuring Your Devices Software".
